I’m a few weeks late but a year ago this April I got fired from a job for “being insubordinate”.
Of course there was a brief moment of panic but more than anything I felt a sense of relief. At the time I was struggling and hit a rough patch that affected my whole life because I was about to move across the country for a job that was making me miserable.
It’s only been a year but it almost feels like a different life.
Since then I’ve done so many things I’ve always wanted to do all while working with great clients and building my own projects with good friends.
I’d put in the work for a long time building my own websites and working for freelance clients so when the time came I didn’t have to get another job. The hard work and long nights really paid off in the end.
In the last year I…
Moved to Mexico for two months and took surf lessons
Did a six week road trip of California where I visited friends in San Diego, LA and San Fran.
Came back and celebrated with friends for Christmas and New Years and saw my favorite band shred faces.
Went to Thailand and met some amazing people and visited a treasure of a town called PAI.
Lived in the capital of the Philippines for a month and well… you can ask me in person about my time there…
Went back to Thailand and experienced Bangkok before heading to the islands with the crew.
Flew home from Hong Kong straight to the bachelor party of the president of the American Mustache Institute
Flew from Cleveland to Las Vegas for another sweet bachelor party.
And now i’m back home in good ole’ Philadelphia. I have several more bachelor parties and weddings to look forward to but it’s also a time to get focused on work. I have a few new projects i’ll be announcing soon that i’m sure my legions of blog followers will await with baited breath.
And with Odin’s strength i’ll be heading off to Ireland in August so the adventure isn’t over yet.
I’ve learned, seen and done more in the past year then probably the past five before it. It’s been a game changer and although it’s tough to stay grateful every day I’ve got to do my best.
This may not last forever and I may have to get a regular job so i’ll appreciate the ride while i’m on it.
